SYNOPSES

Hiroshi Tomofuji
My Experience in Switzerland Different from the Way of Living in Japan FAPIG No. 194 pp.3 to 5 (2018)

"Einstein", "Heidi", "Federer", "Wawrinka" and "Permanent Neutral Country". Though these are examples related to Switzerland/Swiss, there might be difficult for many people to imagine what Switzerland is like or what typical Swiss thinks in their mind. As I had a chance to stay at ETH Zurich as a researcher by taking advantage of company internal go-abroad education system, I stayed at Zurich for two years together with my family. I would like to report the way of living in Switzerland, education and work which are different from those in Japan.

The prototype fast breeder reactor "Monju" was decided to decommission policy by Japanese government on 21 December 2016. After that, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) submitted "Monju decommissioning basic plan" to MEXT (Charge ministry) on 13 June 2017, then the unloading operation period (about 5.5 years) of the fuel assembly, which is the first stage of decommission, has started.
Fuji Electric is proceeding with various preparations in cooperation with JAEA for the safe work of the unloading operation.
This manuscript introduces the outline of preparation situation such as maintenance and inspection for the unloading operation.

Upgrade and Replacement of Plant Dynamics Test Loop((PLANDTL))
FAPIG No. 194 pp.12 to 18 (2018)

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) aims to diversify the decay heat removal system as the moderating approach of severe accident progress in order to sophisticate the safety of the sodium cooled fast reactor. JAEA is progressing the enhancement of Plant Dynamics Test Loop (PLANDTL) in Oarai Development and Research Center. JAEA will demonstrate the heat and flow phenomena at the decay heat removal by natural convection in the reactor vessel by using PLANDTL.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) had got ordered from JAEA and constructed the simulated reactor core, upper plenum, and internal structure of the reactor vessel during FY2014 to 2016. This document shows the manufacturing and the construction of the above mentioned components.

Improvement of the Performances of Condensate Demineralizers in Nuclear Power Plants (2)
Ion-exchange Theory and Improvement on Regeneration System of Condensate Demineralizers in Nuclear Power Plants FAPIG No. 194 pp.19 to 23 (2018)

In nuclear power plants, it is needed to keep the water quality of reactors or steam generators extremely clean from the viewpoints of the reduction of the radiation exposure and maintenance of the reliability of plant materials. In order to meet these requirements, the role of the condensate demineralizers and the ion exchange resins are very important. Furthermore, the requirements of water quality have been upgrading compared to them in 1970's.
In these 4 reports, the performances and these improvements of condensate demineralizers and ion exchange resins are introduced. On this second report, the ion-exchange theory and the improvements on regeneration system of condensate demineralizing technologies are reported.

KEYWORDS:ion exchange resins, condensate demineralizers, regeneration system
